This course will be taught as a project studio in collaboration with from the City of Atlanta and local community organizations. In this project studio we will use participatory methods to explore how local government and communities use data and media for advocacy and we will design and build novel data sets, visualizations, maps and other forms of media to address local issues. The course will provide students with practical experience working with civic partners and the opportunity to contribute to projects with social and political impact. The course will also include readings and discussions to contextualize our work in relation to contemporary design issues.
