Language for Business and Technology (LBAT): France

This study abroad LBAT (Language for Business and Technology: France) program includes several courses.  One of these, French Culture and Society, is affiliated with SLS.  Participating students will discover another culture's approach to sustainability: in particular, French cultural attitudes toward ecology, pesticides, GMOs, food additives, nuclear energy, and pollution.

Language for Business and Technology (LBAT): France

Some courses in the LBAT France program will introduce students to the theory, principles, and practices of sustainability. They will include discussions on maintaining ecological and environmental health, creating economic welfare, and ensuring social justice. Courses focus is on sustainable development and communities in Paris, France. Students meet both in class and in town. They may interview people, shoot videos, report on sustainability practices, create websites.

Nature, Governance, and Sustainability in Costa Rica

This study abroad program will provide a unique opportunity for students to learn and live in the tropics of Central America. Students will take two classes, BIOL 4813 Tropical Biology & Sustainability and PHIL 3127 Science, Technology, and Human Values, that will introduce students to biological, governmental, and societal interactions that help communities protect natural resources, preserve biological diversity, support local innovation, strengthen societal ties, and bolster human capital.

Serve-Learn-Sustain in Spain

This study abroad is part of the SLS Sustainable Cities Minor.

The Serve-Learn-Sustain in Spain program is offered in spring semester by the School of Modern Languages.  Take 12 to 15 credits of upper-division Spanish and earn a Spanish certificate (12 credits) or a Spanish minor (15 credits) in just four months abroad.

Design. Develop. Build. Africa

In 2016/17 students from three universities, Georgia Tech, Have Tech, and PBSA Düsseldorf, are collaborating to design and build a residential compound in the Volta region in Ghana. Working with the NGO Meeting Bismarck, the community of Have, local and international engineers and the department for Health of the Volta region, the project aims to revive vernacular construction techniques such as bamboo through digital design methodology and c raft. The Midwives Quarters Have provide housing for midwives and international aid workers to enable their work at the Health Clinic in Have.

Spain: Language for Business and Technology

The Spain: Language for Business and Technology (LBAT) Program examines the relationship between Spain and the European Union in the 21st century and then explores issues of social, economic, and environmental sustainability in the Spanish context.

Language for Business and Technology (LBAT): France

This study abroad LBAT (Language for Business and Technology: France) program includes several courses.  One of these, French Culture and Society, is affiliated with SLS.  Participating students will discover another culture's approach to sustainability: in particular, French cultural attitudes toward ecology, pesticides, GMOs, food additives, nuclear energy, and pollution. They will also learn about how these concerns spawn new trends and encourage the development of green alternatives.
