Spain: Language for Business and Technology

The Spain: Language for Business and Technology (LBAT) Program examines the relationship between Spain and the European Union in the 21st century and then explores issues of social, economic, and environmental sustainability in the Spanish context.

Social Diversity

This course will lead students to understanding that creating a diverse, inclusive environment requires respectful, thoughtful and intentional efforts of everyone on campus. As we all work together to foster a safe, inclusive, and just community, everyone will benefit, and Georgia Tech Excel is uniquely positioned to join in and to lead in valuing and creating diversity.

African American Rhetorics of Resistance

As an SLS-affiliated course, African American Rhetorics of Resistance will focus specifically on the role of community in African American arts and letters. Black music, art, and literature is known for exploring racism, but it is equally invested in the power of joy and coalition. This labor has often centralized the role of community institutions, including the church, the school, the town hall meeting, and the protest rally.

Numerical Methods in Chemical Engineering

Many engineering problems require the use of advanced numerical methods for finding solutions to systems of linear, nonlinear, and differential equations, optimizing functions, and analyzing data. The general objectives of this course are to develop skills in properly defining and setting up chemical engineering problems and learning numerical methods that can be used to solve these problems. For this reason, this course provides a foundation of techniques that can be used to solve practical and complex engineering problems.

GT 1000 SLS; Exploring Sustainability

This section of GT-1000 will explore methods of incorporating sustainability, civic engagement, and global communities into the academic experience. Students will engage in discussions and activities that will encourage them to reflect on how their academic and career goals impact and contribute to sustainability and sustainable communities.

GT 1000

GT 1000 is a one credit hour, letter-graded class that is designed to support first-year students in their transition to Georgia Tech and is taught by Georgia Tech academic faculty and administrators with advanced degrees. Each section of GT 1000 is small (approximately 20 students) and also includes Team Leaders (TLs), upperclass students volunteer to serve as peer mentors to first-year students.

Mineral Surface Geochemistry

The biogeochemical cyclings of elements among geosphere, biosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere are important processes controlling the fate and transport of contaminants and nutrients. This course will discuss the role of minerals in controlling contaminant and nutrient flow in natural environments, with assignments/projects related to mineral properties and surface reactions.

Sustainable Marketing

As environmental and social consciousness has grown in recent years, sustainability has emerged as an important market driver with the potential to grow profits and spur value creation. As a result, firms are increasingly making sustainability a strategic priority. This course considers sustainability through the lens of the marketing discipline. Through a combination of lectures, case studies, and class projects, this course examines the ways in which firms adapt their marketing strategies to meet business as well as societal needs.

Foundations of Bioethics

Students will not only learn about the ethical dilemmas in our community, but develop measures and actions to alleviate such. They could make a lasting impact on the community and learn the values of life long service.

Proctor Creek Wildlife Assessment Course

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is collaborating with Georgia Tech's College of Sciences and Serve-Learn-Sustain Program to create a summer course that introduces students to ecological monitoring techniques through collecting wildlife data within the Proctor Creek watershed. Located less than a mile from Georgia Tech's campus, the historic Proctor Creek neighborhood has been the focus of a community-led effort to restore streams within the watershed.
