OIE Alternative Winter Break Service Project

The Office of International Education is excited to announce an Alternative Winter Break Service Project, co-sponsored byServe-Learn-Sustain! The trip will provide an opportunity for participants from the GT community to take part in a Conservation project at Cabezas de San Juan and another project with the Boys & Girls Club of Puerto Rico. We are eager to invite both U.S. and international students to provide a cross cultural experience for Georgia Tech students.

Here's some of what you can expect:

  • Learn about the ecology and conservation efforts of Para la Naturaleza, Puerto Rico’s largest conservation organization. Participate in conservation projects at Cabezas de San Juan.
  • Learn about the issues affecting Puerto Rico’s youth and education systems with the Boys & Girls Club of Puerto Rico.
  • Meet, Work, Engage, and Share with GT students from around the world.
  • Participate in Intercultural dialogues and activities.
  • Have FUN and Make a Difference!

Trip Details

  • Who: All GT Students (International and U.S.), J-1 Interns and J-1 Scholars. There are 20 total spaces available.
  • What: Service trip to work on conservation projects and a second project with the Boys & Girls Club of Puerto Rico
  • When: December 27, 2017 – January 4, 2018
  • Where: Near San Juan, Puerto Rico
  • How Much: Program Fee $885. This includes all meals, in country transportation, lodging, project materials, and liability insurance. Students should bring some incidental cash. Airfare is not included.
    • First Deposit of $400 will be due September 16th, 2017
